Sagit ShakedAdjunct Professor

Biography

Sagit Shaked holds an M.A. in Teaching Second Languages from Middlebury College in Vermont, where she focused on second language acquisition and innovative instructional methods. She also earned a B.A. in Theatre, Art, and Design from Tel Aviv University and a teaching certificate from Beit Berl College.

At Emory University, Sagit teaches Hebrew, in face-to-face courses that emphasize proficiency and communicative language teaching. Her instruction integrates grammar, conversation, and cultural context to develop reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills, while fostering deeper cultural appreciation. She also teaches online asynchronous courses at Florida Atlantic University and Kennesaw State University.

Her current research explores motivation and technology in second language acquisition, with a focus on how digital tools can enhance learning and engagement. Sagit’s background in art and design has shaped her teaching philosophy, inspiring a hands-on, creative approach that immerses students in both language and culture.

Dedicated to student-centered learning, she also mentors learners beyond the classroom, supporting their academic and personal goals and encouraging them to view language as a gateway to new perspectives and opportunities.
