Biography
Geoffrey Levin is assistant professor of Middle Eastern and Jewish Studies at Emory University and former Director of Undergraduate Engagement at Emory’s Tam Institute for Jewish Studies. He has held yearlong research fellowship at Harvard University (Strook Postdoctoral Fellow, 2019-20) and the University of Oxford (Koch Junior Fellow, 2025-26), and completed his graduation training at Johns Hopkins University and New York University (PhD, 2019).
His award-winning book, Our Palestine Question: Israel and American Jewish Dissent, 1948-1978, published by Yale University Press, has been discussed widely, including in The Washington Post, The Guardian, The Times of Israel, and The London Review of Books. A recipient of the Emory Williams Distinguished Undergraduate Teaching Award, Professor Levin teaches about an array of topics including the history of Israel/Palestine, Middle East politics, Modern Jewish history, and American foreign policy. He has also received the Mellon Emerging Faculty Leaders Award, the SERMEISS Book Award in Middle East Studies, the American Jewish Historical Society’s Saul Viener Book Prize, the Association for Israel Studies’ Kimmerling Prize, and the Luckens International Prize in Jewish Thought and Culture. He is currently working on a second book tentatively titled America’s Jews of Islam: Middle Eastern Jews and American Jewish Politics.
