Rima Semaan completed a B.A. in Arabic literature (1997), a diploma in Arabic pedagogy (1998) and an M.A. in Arabic literature (2003), all at the American University in Beirut, before joining the MESAS Department in 2003. Her teaching and research interests include language pedagogy and modern Arabic literature. Current projects include several studies of modern Lebanese novelists.
