Nadine Berardi received B.F.A and M F.A. degrees in Sanskrit theatrical arts from Bombay University and received an M.A. in Indic Languages and Literatures in 1988 from Columbia University and an M.Phil. in Sanskrit Poetics and Comparative Literary Theory in 1989, also from Columbia University. She spent a total of 12 years in Madras, Pune and Bombay studying with traditional Sanskrit scholars and conducting research. She taught Sanskrit language, literature and linguistics, Hinduism, Asian Humanities and Asian Religion at Columbia University and New York University before coming to Emory in 2002. Her research interests include Sanskrit literature, literary theory, Ka±mir ÷aivism, comparative literary theory and translation theory. She is currently completing a book on the DhvanyÅloka and textual analysis, and a manual of Sanskrit sandhi rules for students.
